Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Journaled. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Journaled.

Journaled is operated by Casey Murguia, a sole proprietor based in Utah, United States. You can reach us at contact@journaled.io.

1. What Journaled is

Journaled is a tool for keeping a record of your work. You describe what you did in your own words; Journaled turns that into structured entries and written summaries, stores them, and lets you search, edit, and export them.

Journaled is a record-keeping tool. It is not a timekeeping system of record, an invoicing product, a payroll system, or a substitute for whatever system your employer or client requires.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to use Journaled. By using it, you confirm that you are.

If you are using Journaled in connection with a job, you are responsible for making sure that doing so is permitted by your employer’s policies and any agreement you have with them. We cannot know your obligations, and we do not take them on for you.

3. Your account

You need an account to use the app. When you create one:

• Give us an email address you actually control.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• Tell us at contact@journaled.io if you believe someone else has accessed it.

One account is for one person. Do not share credentials.

4. Your content is yours

You own everything you write in Journaled — your captures, entries, titles, summaries, and reports. We do not claim ownership of any of it, and nothing in these terms transfers your rights to us.

To run the service, you give us a limited license to store, process, transmit, and display your content — solely to provide Journaled to you. That includes sending your text to our AI provider to generate summaries, as described in our Privacy Policy. This license exists only so the product can function; it ends when you delete the content or your account.

We will not publish your content, license it to anyone, sell it, or use it to train AI models.

5. What you put into Journaled

You are responsible for what you record. By using Journaled you confirm that you have the right to record what you record, and you agree not to enter:

• Protected health information. Journaled is not HIPAA-compliant and we do not sign business associate agreements.
• Payment card numbers, government identification numbers, or account credentials.
• Classified or export-controlled information.
• Anyone else’s personal information beyond what is ordinary and permitted in a work record — a colleague’s or client’s name in the course of describing your own work is fine; a file of someone else’s personal data is not.
• Confidential information you are not permitted to store in a third-party service.

If your work involves regulated or highly confidential material, check your obligations before logging it. Journaled is a general-purpose tool and makes no compliance claims beyond what is in these terms and our Privacy Policy.

6. About AI-generated output

Journaled uses AI to structure your text and write summaries from it. Two things you should know:

The output is generated from what you write. Journaled is deliberately built not to invent facts, inflate your work, or add outcomes your entries do not support. That is a design principle we take seriously.

It can still be wrong. AI output can misread input, misgroup related work, misstate a duration, or phrase something in a way you would not. Journaled shows you every entry before it is saved and lets you edit everything afterward, because you are the final editor — not us and not the model.

Review anything before you rely on it. If you are sending a summary to a manager, a client, or an interviewer, read it first. You are responsible for what you send. Journaled’s output is not legal, financial, medical, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for records your employer or client requires you to keep.

7. Acceptable use

Do not:

• Use Journaled for anything illegal, or to store content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringes someone else’s rights.
• Try to break, bypass, or probe the service’s limits, authentication, or rate limiting.
• Access anyone else’s account or data.
• Scrape the service, hammer it with automated requests, or resell access to it.
• Reverse engineer the service, except where the law says you may.
• Use the AI features to generate content that misrepresents work you did not do, in a way intended to deceive an employer, client, or anyone else.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that do these things.

8. The public demo

Our website lets you try Journaled without an account. The demo is limited in length and in how many times it can be used per day, and nothing you type into it is saved — including by you. It exists to show you what the product does, not to be a free version of it.

Do not attempt to circumvent the demo’s limits.

9. Plans, limits, and payment

Journaled has a free plan with usage limits, and a paid Pro plan. Current plan features and limits are described on our pricing page, and we may adjust them as the product develops.

Limits exist because generating summaries costs real money on every request. We would rather publish honest numbers than advertise “unlimited” and quietly throttle you.

When paid plans are available:

• Subscriptions are billed in advance through our payment processor, monthly or annually depending on what you choose. We do not receive or store your card details.
• Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
• We do not generally provide refunds for partial periods, but if something has gone genuinely wrong, email us — we would rather sort it out than win an argument.
• If prices change, we will give you notice before the change affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Your work content is never held hostage by your plan. Export is free on every plan, permanently. If you stop paying, you can still get your record out.

10. Availability and changes

Journaled is an early-stage product built by one person. That means:

• We do not promise any particular uptime, and there will be times the service is unavailable.
• Features can change, and occasionally be removed. If we remove something that matters, we will say so.
• We may need to perform maintenance without notice.

Keep your own copies of anything critical. We maintain backups and take reasonable care, but no service should be the only place important information exists. Export is built in and free precisely so this is easy.

11. Ending things

You can stop at any time. Delete individual sessions and reports in the app, or email contact@journaled.io from your account’s email address to delete your entire account. Deletion removes your sessions, entries, reports, and usage records as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these terms, if your use threatens the security, cost, or availability of the service for others, or if we are required to by law. Except where the violation is serious or legally requires immediate action, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the problem, and a reasonable opportunity to export your content.

If we ever discontinue Journaled entirely, we will give you advance notice and time to export everything.

12. Disclaimers

Journaled is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that AI-generated output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost opportunities, or loss of data or content.
• Our total liability for any claim relating to Journaled is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

These limits apply even if a remedy fails its essential purpose, and they apply regardless of the legal theory behind the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your content, your use of Journaled, or your violation of these terms or of anyone else’s rights. This does not apply to claims caused by our own breach of these terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and both of us consent to that jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law grants you mandatory rights or a mandatory forum, nothing here takes those away.

Before filing anything, email us. Most problems are misunderstandings, and we would rather fix yours than litigate it.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Journaled after that means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, you can delete your account.

17. Odds and ends

• Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Journaled.
• Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
• No waiver. If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
• Assignment. You may not assign these terms. We may assign them to a successor entity — including a company formed to operate Journaled — on notice to you.
